Lynx goes on a Fight Club Rant
Read on as Lachlan goes off on a Fight Club (archived link, may no longer work, try this one) tangent.
Fight Club is one of my all time favorite movies. Why? It’s not because of the violence and blood or the “surprise ending” (although, they’re pretty cool). No, it was the mind-blowing way it presents the underlying social commentary.
I know, the movie is old. It’s been on HBO and gone. So, why do I bring it up now? I dunno, ’cause I can?
I came across some Fight Club related-gems. For example, The secret connections (archived link, may no longer work, try this one) between Calvin and Hobbes and Fight Club (archived link, may no longer work, try this one).
I also found a post by William Beegle on Alt.sysadmin.recovery (archived link, may no longer work, try this one) rewriting the Fight Club Rules into the ASR rules. Here’s an excerpt from the post:
The first rule of ASR is: You do not talk about ASR.
Hm, where does it go on from there? “When a BOFH (archived link, may no longer work, try this one) achieves recovery, hits ^D or goes limp, the rant is over; at
least one BOFH to a rant; at least one rant at a time; if this is your first
post, you have to rant…”
Now, here’s what I came up with as the real Fight Club rules from the script (archived link, may no longer work, try this one). (I’m paraphrasing here)
The first rule of fight club is – you don’t talk about fight club.
The second rule of fight club is – you don’t talk about fight club.
The third rule in fight club is – when someone says “stop” or goes limp, the fight is over.
The fourth rule is – only two guys to a fight.
Fifth rule – one fight at a time.
Sixth rule – no shirts or shoes.
Seventh rule – fights go on as long as they have to.
And the eighth rule of fight club is – if this is your first night, you have to fight.
So, I was thinking… (dangerous sport, I know).. What would the eyejabber.com rules be?
First Rule - You do not talk about eyejabber.com
Second Rule - You do not talk about eyejabber.com
Third Rule - When someone says “stop” or goes limp, the eyejabbing is over.
Fourth Rule - Only two jabbers to an eye.
Fifth Rules - One jab at a time.
Sixth Rule - No dull jabbing tools
Seventh Rule - Jabbing goes on as long as it has to.
Eight Rule - If this is your first visit, you MUST jab your eyes.
Maybe? Maybe not? Are there are any other “Fight Club” type rules on the net that I’ve missed? Send (archived link, may no longer work, try this one) ’em in.
