Quit Slashdot?
Is it just be or has Slashdot (archived link, may no longer work, try this one) really gone downhill lately?
Slashdot was the ONLY site I used to read without fail everyday. I seem to remember reading Slashdot in 1996, but someone told me it’s only been around 4 years. Oh well.
I digress. Slashdot is no longer the only site I visit anymore. The list includes User Friendly (archived link, may no longer work, try this one), Sluggy (archived link, may no longer work, try this one) (Haven't been reading long enough to understand it, but it has it's moments), Kevin and Kell (archived link, may no longer work, try this one), Fark (archived link, may no longer work, try this one), and of course Eyejabber.
I digress again. My point was that I've noticed the quality of the news going downhill. Their stories are typically a couple of days old now where they used to be cutting edge. Now they're going to a subscription service? What's up with that?
The comments aren't even fun to read anymore. Believe it or not, in the beginning most of the comments were actually thoughtful and amusing. I quit reading the comments a long time ago.
Well, I found a site for helping you quit your Slashdot Addiction (archived link, may no longer work, try this one). There's the Top 9 Reasons to Quit Slasdot, a List of Alternatives to Reading Slashdot (me thinks they should add eyejabber.com to the list), a list of Sites Just as Bad as Slashdot, and even a FAQ.
